Gale Storm was born Josephine Owaissa Cottle in Bloomington, Texas on April 5th 1922. She was the youngest of five children. At the age of two or three the family moved to Houston, Texas.
While in her senior year at San Jacinto High School, Gale was persuaded by two of her teachers to enter a national radio contest called " Gateway to Hollywood".
The contest was to select a boy and a girl to be given the names Gale Storm and Terry Belmont and a RKO motion picture contract.
Josephine Cottle and Lee Bonnell won the contest.
This was the beginning of Gale Storm's career in the entertainment business. She also married her co-winner Lee Bonnell.
I have been a fan of Gale Storm for over 40 years and still enjoy seeing her movies, TV shows, and listening to her recordings.
